Chapter 25: A Person Born Under a Cursed

Qin Zheng's sudden and unexpected touch startled Qin Su for a moment, but he simply let out a soft sigh and did not voice any refusal, allowing himself to be held.

In this cold cave, Qin Zheng discovered that his junior brother was like a personal heater. Before long, he didn’t feel cold at all.

Qin Zheng playfully let go of Qin Su, then quickly pulled him back into an embrace. After doing this a few times, he realized that even after separating from Qin Su’s body, he no longer felt cold for a while.

This definitely wasn’t because he had absorbed some immortal energy from Qin Su and leveled up.

Qin Zheng looked at Qin Su, who kept walking forward without stopping, and said with a smile: “Junior brother cast a cold-repelling spell on me and didn’t even mention it.”

Qin Su didn’t say anything, simply kept walking as if he hadn’t heard a word behind him.

Yet even if the other person ignored him, Qin Zheng was already overjoyed inside.

Since he wasn’t willing to speak, there was no need to force him to confess.

Suddenly changing the topic, Qin Zheng asked, “But why was there a barrier gate leading to the Sealed Ground  over there?”

“Could it be that someone within Tianque Sect harbors ulterior motives?”

Qin Su shook his head and said, “It’s still too early to draw that conclusion.”

The two of them continued walking along the cave until they reached the end of the ice tunnel.

At the end of the tunnel appeared another deep ice cave.

Standing at the edge and looking down, Qin Zheng saw that the walls below were also sealed in ice. Though the cave was deep, it was not dark. The surroundings were pure white. Even though they couldn’t see the sky, some unknown light source made the entire cave as bright as day.

From afar, Qin Zheng could see something at the center of the cave bottom, but it was too distant to make out clearly.

There were stairs made of ice along the edge of the cave, winding downward along the icy wall all the way to the bottom.

Qin Zheng turned to Qin Su and asked, “Shall we go down and take a look?”

Qin Su nodded.

The two of them carefully descended the steps.

Perhaps due to his high cultivation, Qin Su could even walk on water—let alone ice.

However, Qin Zheng didn’t have such skill. After only a few steps, he slipped.

He quickly reached out and grabbed Qin Su’s arm, saying, “I remember you can fly. How about flying me down instead?”

Qin Su looked around and replied, “I’m afraid we can’t here. Who knows what’s sealed in the Sealed Ground—better to be cautious.”

Qin Zheng agreed it made sense, so he clung tightly to Qin Su’s arm and said, “If I accidentally slip and fall, you better come save me.”

Dying here would be far too senseless.

“Mm.” Qin Su responded softly, then switched places with Qin Zheng so that he was behind and said, “This way, if you slip, I can catch you.”

After just a few more steps down, something caught the corner of Qin Zheng’s eye. It seemed like there was something inside the ice wall he was holding onto.

Looking closely, he saw a plant frozen within the ice wall.

The plant looked very familiar—it was clearly one of the ones their master had planted outside. Qin Zheng had seen every single one.

Tilting his head to look farther down the ice wall, he found that many medicinal herbs were sealed in the wall.

Some herbs were even flying out of the ice wall on their own, heading downward into the ice cave.

“Oh~” Qin Zheng nodded in understanding and said, “No wonder no one in the sect ever uses these herbs, yet their numbers keep decreasing—they’ve all ended up here!”

Qin Su didn’t comment, merely gave the ice wall a glance.

Finally, after a long climb, the two of them safely reached the bottom of the ice cave.

Perhaps because Qin Su had been steadying him, Qin Zheng didn’t slip again after that.

Only upon reaching the bottom of the cave did they finally see everything clearly.

Because the cave walls were made of ice, they couldn’t see it from above—but the entire perimeter of the cave bottom was actually lined with doorways.

What surprised Qin Zheng the most was the object in the very center of the floor.

From above, he had only seen a square platform. It wasn’t until they got down that he could see it clearly.

The platform was about the size of an adult in both length and width. At its center, suspended in midair, stood a circular ice pillar. Inside that pillar was a man, frozen in the ice.

Judging by his attire, he appeared to be someone from the Tianque Sect, though Qin Zheng had never seen him before. He looked like someone from an older generation.

Qin Zheng pointed to the man and asked Qin Su, “Don’t tell me this is what’s sealed down here?”

Qin Su had been quietly observing the surroundings. Hearing the question, he shook his head and said, “That’s not a corpse.”

“He’s likely still alive. And I can feel an ominous, violent energy emanating from him.”

He then pointed to the medicinal herbs floating at the four corners of the stone platform and said, “This man is likely seriously injured and being kept alive by someone—someone who’s regularly supplying him with healing medicine.”

Qin Zheng followed the direction of Qin Su’s pointing. Due to his lower cultivation, he couldn’t sense the violent aura; he could only see the herbs at the platform’s corners, floating inside glowing halos and connected to the ice pillar by thin threads.

Looking closely, he noticed that the plants within the halos were visibly shrinking at a speed discernible to the naked eye.

The herbs that had floated out of the ice wall earlier were now automatically flying toward the halos to replenish what had disappeared.

Hearing the term "host of violent energy" made Qin Zheng instinctively want to run far, far away. As a mere mortal, he couldn’t afford to mess with things like this.

Qin Su didn’t seem interested either. He simply pulled Qin Zheng toward one of the nearby openings.

“This has nothing to do with us. We need to find the exit.”

Qin Zheng quickly nodded and said, “Yes, yes! Let’s find the exit fast. Since people have gotten in here, who knows when someone might break the seal—that’d be a disaster.”

Saying that, the two of them entered the same ice tunnel one after the other.

Once inside, they discovered that the tunnel branched into numerous paths. It appeared to be a complex labyrinth.

Qin Zheng hesitated at the entrance and asked, “So... are we really going in?”

Qin Su nodded. “We won’t know unless we try.”

Since his junior brother said so, Qin Zheng chose to trust him and followed him in.

Because everything around them was ice, it was impossible to distinguish directions. The two wandered around inside for a long time before they finally found an opening that looked like an exit.

Qin Zheng ran up to it excitedly.

But upon getting closer, he discovered that the outside of the tunnel was still the same cave bottom where the frozen man was sealed.

With a bitter expression, he turned to his slowly approaching junior brother and said, “There’s no exit, is there? I mean, why would a sealed land even have entrances and exits?”

Suddenly, Qin Su—who had been moving leisurely—abruptly pulled Qin Zheng into his arms, and the two of them sped unnaturally from their current tunnel into the adjacent one.

It seemed Qin Su had activated his spiritual power.

Qin Zheng was startled. After a moment, he asked, “What’s going on?”

Qin Su replied, “I think someone’s here.”

Upon hearing that, Qin Zheng immediately focused his attention ahead.

Qin Su appeared to be chasing the person, passing quickly through one identical tunnel after another without hesitation.

Soon, a human figure came into view.

Qin Zheng saw that the person appeared transparent—likely a spiritual soul—and seemed very weak.

That was probably the reason why Qin Su was able to catch up.

Under normal circumstances, a soul’s speed while fleeing should have been more than sufficient.

“Stop running and tell us how to get out,” Qin Su finally spoke when he saw the person ahead could no longer escape.

Hearing the voice behind him, the man paused—probably realizing he couldn’t get away—and obediently stopped.

He slowly turned around, hands clasped behind his back, eyes calm and clear as he looked at the two people behind him.

It was as if the one who had just been fleeing in fear wasn’t him at all.

As he turned, Qin Zheng thought he was seeing things.

The man before them looked exactly like the one sealed inside the ice pillar—same face, same clothes.

Qin Zheng pointed at him and asked, “Are you that man’s spiritual soul?”

The man smiled lightly. “You guessed right.”

“I wasn’t trying to hide—I just haven’t figured out how to face someone, so I didn’t want anyone to know I was here.”

Qin Zheng asked in confusion, “Someone?”

Qin Su replied softly, “The person you’re referring to is probably the current sect leader of Tianque Sect.”

Qin Zheng, upon hearing it was his master, looked at the two of them in surprise. “What does this have to do with Master?”

The situation sounded so ambiguous that Qin Zheng had assumed the person he was referring to was a woman.

After spending so many years in the mortal world, he’d heard too many tangled love stories—it was easy to be misled.

The man paused, then gave a bitter smile. “You actually guessed it?”

Qin Su said, “All the herbs here were planted by him.”

“For all these years, Master has never sent any of his herbs to the medicine hall, yet they’ve been continuously disappearing. Looks like they’ve all ended up here.”

The man nodded.

“But this is your personal business. We don’t intend to pry, nor will we speak of it.”

“We entered here by accident. Now we just want to know how to leave.”

The man shook his head. “There’s no way out.”

“But if you're looking to leave, it won’t be long now.”

“To be direct with you: the fact that you managed to enter means the seal has already been damaged.”

“Once the seal is completely lifted, you’ll be able to leave easily.”

Qin Zheng seemed to think of something and asked, “The seal lifting—does that mean your physical body’s seal will be lifted too?”

Qin Su also furrowed his brows at that.

If this man’s body had been sealed away, it was likely because he posed a danger—and not a small one. Once that seal was undone, what then?

The man was silent for a while, then slowly said, “Once the seal is broken, I suggest you leave immediately. Then go find your master. And remember—absolutely do not come into contact with my physical body.”

“If it really gets to a point where I can’t control it... tell Qing Yuan to kill me.”
