ALIBEC: Chapter 6 - Diamond Walnut

In the first few hours, there would definitely be no orders. Sui Ning wasn’t discouraged though. He logged into the account with the ID Fenglan, starting from Bronze V, and began his solo queue journey to climb the ranks.

Thanks to the original body’s sharp memory, the hero info he had looked over yesterday was still crystal clear in Sui Ning’s mind. The first hero he picked to climb the national server with was [Stellar Sprite · Aeria]—a petite little girl with long aqua-blue hair, a youthful and adorable face, and an overall lovable design. But contrary to most people’s expectations, she wasn’t a gentle support; her tag was clearly labeled “Assassin,” making her a dangerous opponent.

Aeria had just been released two days ago. The War of Glory forums were buzzing with discussions about her, but most of the chatter was negative.

The main issue was that Aeria was one of the rare heroes in War of Glory whose ultimate had no damage at all. For an assassin who relied on burst damage, being born without a damage ult meant she was a step behind others from the start. On top of that, her mechanics were complicated, requiring time and practice to master her playstyle and skill combos.

When Sui Ning casually scrolled through the forums, he could easily find multiple rant posts:

[A ult with zero damage deserves to be called an ult?]

[Confession Board: Tried Aeria a few times today, and then…]

[Trash devs making trash heroes, ten Aerias and eleven feeders!]

[New hero lewd fanart HD, minors keep out]

[Rational Discussion: Could Aeria actually change the HPL or even the world championship meta?]

Sui Ning raised an eyebrow and clicked into the last one, only to see the thread starter’s first post in bold, oversized black text: “Change your ass. Trash hero. Anyone who picks her, I’ll report!”

“Pfft.” Suining laughed. He really shouldn’t have expected serious analysis from this group of clowns. Still, after reviewing Aeria’s kit, his instincts told him this little girl would definitely stir up the mid lane in no small way.

Unfortunately, the brand-new Stellar Sprite Aeria cost 18,000 gold / 68 yuan, which was far out of reach for Sui Ning, who had nothing on this account.

Even with newbie rewards, the earliest he could afford his first “premium hero” would be at Gold rank.

With no choice, Sui Ning focused his gaze on the few free heroes provided by the system.

[Three-Tailed Fox · Xiaolian], the only mage among the four newbie hero choices—considered a brain-dead hero with a terrible reputation among players.

Alright then, Xiaolian it is!

Sui Ning opened his livestream room, #32566, changed his streamer ID to Fenglan, selected the virtual avatar option, uploaded a picture of a diamond walnut as his avatar, and tagged his Little Tomato ID at the bottom of the screen.

Finally, he gave his room a flashy name that clashed completely with his refined appearance:

[Newbie Hero Wrecks Everything! Game Companion Play Stream, Not Strong = Free!]

...Well, that’s how it is when you’re broke. Understanding appreciated.

——

As a veteran viewer who hopped through countless livestreams, Ji Mengyao normally would never notice a small room like #32566. With such a cheesy name, it was simply unfit for a fairy like her.

But that diamond walnut sparkling in the bottom right corner of the screen was way too eye-catching.

She’d seen countless streamers’ virtual avatars—cute ones, cool ones, seductive ones, humanoid, animal, eldritch godlike…

…but what the hell was this diamond walnut?! Why was it so cursed? And why, beneath it, was there a bold caption: “Think you can break my defenses?”

The walnut hadn’t broken, but she had.

Man, you’ve succeeded in catching my attention.

Ji Mengyao decided to waste ten precious minutes of her life to see what kind of guy this streamer was.

And then she saw the moment that broke her for a second time.

The streamer was playing [Three-Tailed Fox · Xiaolian], already dominating with a record of 13/0/5, and after one sneaky ambush, his kills jumped to 14.

The enemy team cursed him out:

[Dropping Ranks Like Drinking Water] (All Chat): “F*** your mother, useless fox, all you can do is camp? Does your mom know how shameless you are? Oh, my bad, forgot—you don’t have one!”

After being flamed by the enemy, the streamer naturally hit Enter to bring up the chat box.

Perfect. Ji Mengyao nodded in anticipation. Go on, streamer, show this trash-talking dog who’s boss!

And then…

She watched, dumbfounded, as this useless streamer tried to type “shabi” (idiot) but typed “shubu,” then deleted it and tried “shubi,” then “shibi,” couldn’t find the right characters in the suggestions, backtracked to “sha,” and ended up with just “sa”...

In the end, he deleted everything and sent an emoji instead.

[Fenglan] (All Chat): ^^

Ji Mengyao: …

Goddammit, this is the strongest typo king I’ve ever seen! Others are keyboard warriors, you’re keyboard disabled! A level-10 typing vegetable! Can’t even curse properly—your pinyin is as broken as your walnut!

She couldn’t resist sending a comment: Streamer, how old are you? Did you even learn pinyin?

“How old…? Secret.” Sui Nng’s voice was lazy. “Of course I learned pinyin.”

Ji Mengyao: …

Her face flushed.

Damn it, why does this man talk so slowly, with that breathy tone at the end of his sentences? So shameless, not manly at all!!

——

Sui Ning, for his part, was a bit surprised—already his first viewer? Looks like his skills were enough to attract attention after all.

But having viewers wasn’t enough. What he really needed was a paying customer.

With his good performance in this match, Sui Ning deliberately showed off, grabbing a quadra kill, then casually hinted: “Not bad, right? Boss, wanna hire me…?”

Ji Mengyao’s ears tingled.

[Princess Yaoyao]: Why are you so shameless?

Sui Ning: ?

Where had he heard that line before?

He didn’t get what kind of weird things people in this parallel world were thinking, so he just repeated: “My Little Tomato ID is also Fenglan, number 28577, five yuan per game—no charge if I’m not good enough.”

Ji Mengyao gritted her teeth. Damn dog man, coming for her wallet?! Did he think she’d cave so easily?

[Princess Yaoyao]: Do you use voice chat?

“Of course.”

[Princess Yaoyao]: Order placed.

Sorry. She was voice-weak. She couldn’t resist. She gave in. Brother only costs five yuan—so cheap!

While screaming internally, Ji Mengyao logged into her own account. Her ID was also [Princess Yaoyao], with every hero unlocked, tons of skins, and great stats overall—except her rank was stuck at Bronze III, which she hated.

All because her cousin refused to help her climb. Ji Mengyao fumed. He always claimed, “I’m a professor, I must set an example and not play games too much,” but secretly, he’d already grinded multiple national server accounts. Hypocritical bastard! Ugh!

Thinking about her two-faced scum of a cousin, Ji Mengyao rolled her eyes. He might have hordes of admirers at Yan University, but he was still a beast in gentleman’s clothing.

Compared to him, how could he ever match up to the sweet-voiced, cheap, diamond-walnut streamer brother—wait, no, not walnut, it’s brother streamer!

Happily, Ji Mengyao accepted Sui Ning’s invite.

She preferred mid lane and support, especially mid, with every skin unlocked. This time, she decided to show off with her favorite [Frost Goddess · Eve].

And then Sui Ning instantly locked in [Three-Tailed Fox · Xiaolian].

Ji Mengyao: …

She typed weakly: Brother, won’t you play jungle, ADC, or top instead?

“No heroes yet, little sister.” Sui Ning chuckled softly. “Come play support for me, okay? I can’t manage without your protection.”

His low, magnetic voice seemed to whisper right in her ear. Ji Mengyao, dazed, locked in a support hero—still grinning like an idiot the whole time.
