The Villains All Fell in Love with Me After Rebirth : Extra 05 - A Long-awaited Reunion with Jing Sui
Extra 5: A Long-awaited Reunion with Jing Sui
The employee cafeteria on the twentieth floor of Jingyi Group was bustling with people—it was lunchtime, and employees were arriving one after another. The company had always prioritized the well-being of its employees, striving to provide them with a top-notch working environment. Although it was just a company cafeteria, it offered a variety of Chinese and Western cuisine, buffets, seafood, and desserts, comparable to any five-star hotel.
Several female employees were eating together at a table near the corridor, chatting and laughing. Suddenly, one of the women across from them abruptly stopped talking, blinking forcefully. The others immediately understood and fell silent, focusing on their meals.
Using their peripheral vision, they glanced over and, sure enough, saw the president walking past them.
About ten seconds later, once Jing Sui’s figure was no longer visible, the group collectively let out a sigh of relief.
The youngest among them, a new recruit, gazed dreamily at Jing Sui’s departing figure. Clearly, she was yet another newcomer who had been utterly captivated by his looks. Though she had only been with the company for a few months, every time she saw the president, she couldn’t help but be mesmerized by his face.
A person with such status and talent, yet also possessing such a face and physique—heaven was truly unfair. It was as if all the best attributes had been generously bestowed upon this one person, making everyone else feel inadequate in comparison.
Seeing her expression, the others sighed knowingly. A female employee in her thirties nudged her with her elbow and whispered, “Wake up, Xiao Luo. Stop dreaming.”
Xiao Luo’s face instantly turned bright red.
The group burst into laughter.
One of the older women regarded the infatuated newcomer with affectionate amusement and said, “It’s fine to daydream a little, but don’t get any ideas. Our President Fu is someone no woman has ever been able to win over.”
Another woman added, “Exactly. He’s a workaholic with zero interest in romance—he doesn’t even have the slightest soft spot for women. He’s the ultimate, invincible, forever-single, straight-as-steel bachelor.”
Xiao Luo found it hard to believe. President Fu didn’t seem that unapproachable…
How could someone so attractive possibly be so unromantic?
Seeing her disbelief, the others turned to a woman sitting at the far right of the table—a beautiful and elegant lady. They said, “Sister Jie, you tell her. Don’t let this young girl lose her mind and do something foolish.”
Xiao Luo immediately looked at Sister Jie with curiosity.
Sister Yin’s beauty stood out even among the company’s many attractive employees. Moreover, as the assistant to the president, she had the most contact with him. By all accounts, it should have been the classic ‘domineering CEO and his charming secretary’ story.
Sister Yin smiled and spoke gently, “They’re right. I’ve been working as President Fu’s assistant for years, and I’ve seen plenty of women try to throw themselves at him, but not a single one has succeeded. In fact, they all ended up offending him… Ah, back then, I also thought, ‘If I could sleep with a man like that, I’d be willing to pay him, let alone the other way around.’ But in the end, reason won out. Trying to seduce President Fu? Impossible. Not in this lifetime… Losing your job over it would be the real loss. Just focus on your work, young lady. As long as you do your job well, the company will take care of you—just don’t mess with President Fu."
Xiao Luo’s jaw dropped in shock. She hadn’t expected such blunt words from someone as gentle and beautiful as Sister Yin! But what shocked her even more was that even Sister Yin, a stunning beauty, thought it was impossible to win over President Fu…
She glanced at Sister Yin, then at herself… and immediately lost all hope.
Seeing her spirits dampened, the group laughed.
A glamorous woman from the marketing department also sighed, “I’ve been a queen in the dating scene for years—there’s no man I can’t conquer. But President Fu? He’s the only one I don’t dare to touch. My instincts, honed over years of hunting, tell me he’s dangerous prey.”
With that, the floodgates opened, and the group started gossiping.
“Do you think President Fu might like men?”
“Forget it. If he did, half the men in the company would’ve already thrown themselves at him. Do you think men have any shame these days?”
“Hey, you joke, but I actually heard that a guy once pursued him…”
“I think he’s just completely uninterested in relationships.”
“Or… incapable?”
“That’s going too far! Don’t insult my President Fu.”
“I just want to know if anyone can melt that cold heart of his. If he falls in love, maybe he’ll finally stop making our lives so miserable at work…”
That last remark seemed to strike a nerve, and the group fell into sudden silence.
A moment later, they all forced out some awkward laughter and said, “Let’s just eat.”
……………………
Jing Sui entered his office and first held a meeting with the company’s executives. Later, he called Yang Wei to his office.
Over the years, Yang Wei had been promoted from Deputy General Manager of Finance to Vice President of the company. Her strong work ethic, integrity, and meticulous approach to business, along with her alignment with Jing Sui’s management philosophy, had made her one of his most trusted aides. Over time, their professional relationship had grown into a friendship.
“The project in Yicheng is critical to the company’s future plans. I don’t have time to go personally, so I’d like you to go in my place,” Jing Sui said with a smile.
Yang Wei nodded. “Understood. I’ll make the trip.”
Jing Sui inclined his head slightly. “Thank you for your hard work.”
Yang Wei chuckled. “It’s nothing. You’re being too polite.”
In truth, she was deeply grateful for the opportunities Jing Sui had given her. Although she was highly capable, she had faced gender discrimination in the company and had been suppressed by her former superior due to her competence. Those times had not been easy. It was Jing Sui who had promoted her based on merit, giving her a real chance to shine.
Though he was younger than her, Yang Wei had always held great respect and gratitude toward him.
After finishing their business discussion, Yang Wei, now also a friend of Jing Sui, casually teased, “I heard Yicheng is famous for its beautiful women. Aren’t you regretting not going?” She blinked playfully and smiled. “How about I introduce someone to you when I get back?”
Jing Sui pressed his lips together in silence. After a moment, he smiled faintly and said, “No need.”
Seeing his reaction, Yang Wei didn’t push further. She wasn’t the type to meddle in others' affairs—her earlier comment had been just a casual probe out of concern. But it was clear Jing Sui had no interest in such matters. She couldn’t help but sigh inwardly. Young people these days—either they feared marriage or simply didn’t want children. They all seemed perfectly content living alone. Though she found it a bit regrettable, these were personal choices. Only the one making the decision would truly know what was best for them.
She must be getting old, she thought, since she had started worrying about things like this.
Shaking her head with a small smile, Yang Wei stood up and said, “I’ll get going then. I still need to prepare some materials before the trip.”
Jing Sui stood as well and said, “Alright.”
After Yang Wei left, Jing Sui returned to his desk, closed his eyes, and tapped his fingers lightly on the tabletop. It was as if he was lost in thought. A faint, nearly imperceptible smile flickered at the corner of his lips before disappearing just as quickly.
When Shen Zhuoming walked in, he happened to pass Yang Wei on her way out. He saw Jing Sui sitting at his desk with his eyes closed, seemingly resting, and approached, speaking softly. “Mr. Fu, are you leaving work now?”
Jing Sui rarely left on time—he practically lived at the company—but Shen Zhuoming still made it a habit to ask.
Jing Sui opened his eyes and said, “Yes. But you don’t need to drive me today. Just give me the keys.” He wasn’t working overtime tonight—he had something else to do.
Even though he found this world somewhat dull, he had inherited this identity, so he might as well try to live with it. After all, who knew what would happen after death next time? Jing Sui was a bit surprised by his own mindset. He felt like he was getting old—becoming indifferent and just going with the flow. This was completely unlike his former self. The thought made him chuckle in self-mockery.
Today was his little niece’s birthday. That little girl was very attached to him. He didn’t particularly enjoy attending family gatherings, but he had promised to buy her a birthday cake. And if he made a promise, he would always follow through.
Shen Zhuoming handed over the car keys and watched as Jing Sui walked away, sighing softly.
………………
Jing Sui drove himself to a distant mall. His niece was quite picky—she only ate cake from a certain trendy bakery here. The shop didn’t offer delivery, so Jing Sui had arranged for an order in advance and was now picking it up.
Luckily, there was no line at this hour. Jing Sui showed his order confirmation and easily retrieved the cake.
Just as he was walking out of the mall, he unexpectedly spotted Ji Ling.
The young man was wearing a white down jacket with a fur-lined hood. The soft, snowy fluff around the collar framed his fair complexion, casting a gentle glow on his features. He had earbuds in, seemingly listening to music, and sat casually on a bench near the entrance. His lips moved slightly as he hummed along with the tune. When Ji Ling lifted his head, his dark eyes flickered with surprise for a brief moment before he smiled at Jing Sui.
Jing Sui was also a bit taken aback, but he quickly returned a calm, natural smile, as if they were just two old acquaintances meeting by chance.
Ji Ling pulled out his earbuds, hesitated for a second, then stood up and smiled. “Long time no see.”
Jing Sui gazed at him and lifted the corners of his lips slightly. “Long time no see.”
Ji Ling’s eyelashes fluttered. It had indeed been a long time since he last saw Jing Sui. But to him, Jing Sui had never felt far away—his mother still occasionally mentioned him over family meals.
Yang Wei had once described Jing Sui as a workaholic. She had even sighed, wondering when Mr. Fu would finally settle down.
So… had he been alone all these years?
Ji Ling knew he shouldn’t overthink things or let himself get sentimental. Being single wasn’t a crime, and Jing Sui wasn’t even that old. But now, standing face to face with him, Ji Ling couldn’t help but recall the past.
At that moment, Jing Sui spoke. His deep voice broke the silence. “What are you doing here?”
Ji Ling replied, “Ning Yu drove off to park the car. I’m waiting for him.” They had just finished dinner nearby and were about to head home.
Jing Sui nodded slightly, not seeming surprised at all. His eyes held a hint of amusement. “I see.”
Ji Ling suddenly felt a bit awkward. He knew he should act more composed, but for some reason, he felt slightly flustered. His gaze landed on the cake box in Jing Sui’s hand, and as if grasping at a convenient topic, he asked instinctively, “Is that for…?”
Jing Sui replied, “For my girlfriend. She likes this cake.”
Ji Ling’s eyes widened slightly as he stared at Jing Sui, momentarily stunned.
Jing Sui curled his lips in a meaningful smile. “Surprised?”
Ji Ling was indeed a little surprised, but he quickly returned a genuine smile and said, “She must be a wonderful person.”
It seemed his mother’s information wasn’t entirely up to date—she hadn’t even heard that Jing Sui had a girlfriend. But that was good. As long as he was willing, Jing Sui could be a very gentle person. Ji Ling was sure she would be happy.
He was glad everyone was doing well.
“Didi——”
Just then, a car horn honked. Ji Ling turned his head to look, then glanced back at Jing Sui and smiled. “Ning Yu is here. I’ll be going now. See you.”
He waved, flashing a bright grin before stepping lightly into the car.
Jing Sui watched as the young man disappeared into the vehicle. After a moment, he shrugged and smiled. Snow had just begun to fall from the sky. He reached up to gently brush the flakes off his shoulder before turning in the opposite direction.
So, one day, they had met again like this, by chance, on a random corner of the city.
And they had parted just as casually, as if nothing had ever happened.
They walked in different directions.
Not disturbing him was his final act of kindness.
