Junior Brother Pays Respect to You: Chapter 46 - Cursed by Fate to be Entangled with a Baby
Chapter 46: Cursed by Fate to be Entangled with a Baby
Qin Zheng stood in front of the bed, locking eyes with the child on it.
Everything had happened so suddenly that he couldn’t even begin to sort out his thoughts.
He turned his head to glance silently at Qin Su, hoping he would explain the situation in detail.
Didn’t this guy return to the sect? How did he suddenly come back with a child?
And no matter how he looked at it, this child didn’t seem like an ordinary baby.
Suddenly, a thought popped into Qin Zheng’s head: maybe Qin Su ended up in such a sorry state because he fought with this child.
After all, when the kid came out of the sack, his aura was practically screaming that he was ready to fight to the death.
Qin Su turned to Qin Zheng and said, “I hope you can help look after him. Tomorrow—”
Before he could finish his sentence, he suddenly became alert and looked toward the outside of the house. In the next second, he rushed out.
Qin Zheng turned his head, but Qin Su was already gone.
It seemed to be snowing again outside. A gust of cold wind blew in, making Qin Zheng shiver. He quickly ran to close the door.
Now there were only two people left in the room—one big, one small.
Qin Zheng turned to glance at the child still obediently sitting on his blanket and suddenly noticed that the boy wasn’t wearing anything at all, yet he seemed completely fine.
Looks like his guess was right—without some level of cultivation, there’s no way a child could be so lively in weather this cold.
But—he hadn’t even agreed to this yet!
Shouldn’t Qin Su know better than anyone that he hated children?
Qin Zheng looked at the filthy sack under the child and said with distaste, “Get up.”
The child had been staring at Qin Zheng ever since he saw him.
When told to get up, he obediently stood.
Qin Zheng didn’t expect him to be so well-behaved. He gave the kid a puzzled look, then walked over, pinched the dirty sack between two fingers in disgust, and tossed it to the floor.
The bloodstains on the sack seemed to have dried already, so it didn’t dirty the blanket too badly.
Qin Zheng had slept with much worse in the caves—he wasn’t bothered by such a small stain now. He simply lifted the blanket and slipped back into bed.
The bed he had just warmed up was now cold again.
He lay under the blanket and glanced at the child who had scooted to the foot of the bed. He was sitting there completely naked, still staring at him.
When the child noticed Qin Zheng looking at him, his eyes curved with joy into a bright, innocent smile.
Qin Zheng’s heart jolted.
Qin Su left such a dangerous creature here—what if it attacked him while he was asleep?
Qin Zheng sat up immediately, forcing himself to stay alert as he watched the strange child.
Half-awake and half-asleep, he kept guarding against the boy.
Unfortunately, he eventually dozed off under the child’s watchful eyes.

In the blink of an eye, morning arrived.
When Qin Zheng opened his eyes, he saw the demon child again—those big eyes still fixed on him.
Looks like Qin Su hadn’t returned all night.
After observing the child for a while, Qin Zheng felt that he didn’t seem to have any ill intent.
Still, he didn’t want to bother with him.
He simply couldn't bring himself to like children.
Aside from Qin Su, he didn’t think he’d ever like any child.
Ignoring the boy at the foot of the bed, Qin Zheng dragged himself out from under the covers.
If not for his hunger, he really didn’t want to leave the warm blanket.
He rummaged through the supplies he’d bought yesterday and found the rations he had prepared.
As he munched on his food, he glanced at the child who was still circling around him with his gaze. Unexpectedly, a small pang of guilt rose in his chest.
Qin Zheng looked at the rations in his hand, hesitated for a moment, then finally broke off a piece and held it out. “Here.”
The child stared in surprise at the food being offered, then gave a huge smile and took it.
But instead of eating it, he just held it and stared at it as if it were a precious treasure.
Qin Zheng didn’t care. He walked to the door, cracked it open, and peeked outside.
As expected, a thick layer of snow had accumulated again.
He probably wouldn’t be able to leave for a few more days. He’d need to ration his food.
He frowned—could it be that Qin Su had just dumped this kid here and gone back to the sect?
Qin Zheng shook his head. No way.
Qin Su wasn’t the kind of person to do that.
Suddenly, out of the corner of his eye, he spotted a fuzzy little head.
He looked down to find that the child, who had been sitting on the bed, had gotten down and was now lying naked against the door, mimicking him by peeking through the crack.
Qin Zheng, who hadn’t felt cold before, now trembled all over at the sight of the bare-skinned child.
Just looking at him made him feel chilly.
He quickly shut the door and said with a slightly stern tone, “Back to bed!”
The child looked at him innocently but obediently turned back toward the bed.
However, since the bed was too tall, he couldn’t reach it.
Qin Zheng thought about helping him up, but before he could move, the child suddenly floated into the air after a few failed attempts and landed gently on the bed.
The sight left Qin Zheng dumbfounded.
He suddenly realized that something about himself today felt... off.
He was sure he didn’t like the child, didn’t want to take care of him—but guilt kept bubbling up in his heart, nudging him to show concern.
Qin Zheng slowly walked to the bed and smirked at the child. “Do you have a name?”
The child just stared at him and didn’t respond.
Qin Zheng rubbed his chin and gave a wicked grin. “Then I’ll call you Xiao Hua. Your eyes are red, just like the pretty flowers outside.”
Xiao Hua looked like he could understand. He smiled happily at the name.
Qin Zheng shrugged, suddenly feeling a little bored. He wasn’t sure whether the boy actually understood him.
At times like this, he really missed his Xiao Bai…
Creak—
The sound of the door opening behind him.
Qin Zheng noticed that the previously smiling and innocent Xiao Hua suddenly glared fiercely in the direction behind him.
It was like he had turned into a completely different child.
Qin Zheng quickly turned around to look.
A figure in white stepped inside—it was Qin Su.
The bloodstains were gone from his face, and his clothes were fresh and clean.
Qin Su ignored the ferocious Xiao Hua on the bed. He simply raised his hand and pointed at the child, then looked straight at Qin Zheng and said, “Do you want to stay here to take care of him, or come back to the sect with me to do it?”
But Qin Zheng only heard the part: Do you want to stay here, or come back to the sect?
“Back to the sect!” he answered without hesitation.
