Junior Brother Pays Respect to You: Chapter 74 - Meeting Lin Sui Again
Chapter 74: Meeting Lin Sui Again
Because of the time travel, Qin Zheng still vividly remembered the incident of being poisoned.
To him, those people and events had only happened three months ago. But in reality, more than twenty years had passed. The people he cared about were already long gone.
Qin Zheng smiled helplessly.
The cold winter wind made him shiver, snapping him back to reality.
Something white floated in front of him, followed by more and more of it.
The snow on the roadside hadn’t completely melted, and now it looked like it was going to snow again.
He looked down at Xiao Hua. The child was wearing Tianque Sect robes—well-made, but not warm. Yet judging by his expression, he didn’t seem to feel the cold at all.
Qin Zheng curled his lips in annoyance.
No one around him needed taking care of more than he did—even the child was so brutal.
He figured he’d better worry about himself.
Qin Zheng pressed his waist. Due to his unique physique, even his wounds healed faster than others'.
It felt like unless he was killed with a single blow, even dying would be difficult.
Qin Zheng touched his stomach.
After all the intense activity last night, he still hadn’t eaten anything. It was time to pay tribute to his “temple of five organs” (a poetic reference to the stomach).
Lifting his feet, Qin Zheng headed toward the town of Nanchuan.
It looked like another heavy snowfall was coming.
Fortunately, he still had plenty of money. Qin Zheng decided to find an inn to rest.
Probably because of the cold and the snow, there were very few people moving about on the streets of Nanchuan.
Qin Zheng remembered that the most famous places in Nanchuan were two buildings: Drunken Immortal Pavilion (Zui Xian Lou) and, directly opposite it, Tower Beyond the Tower (Lou Wai Lou).
Drunken Immortal Pavilion was a restaurant, while Tower Beyond the Tower was an inn.
Qin Zheng was not short on money right now, and he was never one to scrimp and save.
Since he could afford it, he might as well stay at the best inn.
Leading Xiao Hua, he navigated the streets of Nanchuan with ease.
Before long, the two of them stood in front of Tower Beyond the Tower.
This was the liveliest part of Nanchuan, so despite the cold weather, there were still quite a few guests coming and going.
Qin Zheng tilted his head and winked at Xiao Hua. “Do whatever you want. If you spend anything, I’ll cover you for now. You can go ask your heartless father for it later.”
“Oh, and remember—don’t touch any humans, got it?”
Xiao Hua listened carefully to Qin Zheng’s lecture, but he only understood the second part.
After giving instructions, Qin Zheng puffed out his chest, lifted his foot, and prepared to stride confidently into the inn.
After all, this was the first time in his life he’d entered such a place.
“Stop right there!”
Just as Qin Zheng raised his foot and was about to take a step forward, a stern shout came from behind him.
Though he wasn’t sure the voice was directed at him, he instinctively stopped and turned to look.
Not far behind him stood three people.
An elderly man, a middle-aged man, and a young boy.
From their attire, it was clear the elderly man was the master, and the middle-aged and younger ones were his servants.
All three were looking at him, and it seemed the one who had shouted was the middle-aged man.
Qin Zheng pointed at himself and asked in confusion, “Are you talking to me?”
He didn’t seem to recognize any of them.
Qin Zheng looked past the middle-aged man at the luxuriously dressed elderly man behind him.
That old man was staring at him in shock
Their eyes met.
Qin Zheng froze slightly inside, then his gaze drifted to the carriage behind them.
That kind of carriage—its style and ornaments—looked like it belonged to the Lin Royal Residence.
Then that old man must be Lin Sui!
But logically, Lin Sui should be in his early forties right now, still in his prime.
Yet this man looked like someone well into his sixties.
And with his status as a prince, it shouldn’t be possible for him to have aged like this due to hardship.
From his clothes and carriage, he didn’t look like someone from a fallen household.
So how did he end up like this?
The middle-aged man shouted loudly, seeing Qin Zheng had turned around: “Our prince has something to ask you!”
Snapping out of his thoughts, Qin Zheng feigned ignorance and asked politely, “Yes? What would you like to ask?”
Supported by the young servant, Lin Sui stepped forward. He still carried the imposing air of a prince and asked grimly, “Are you Qin Zheng?”
Qin Zheng feigned confusion and replied, “Your Highness must be mistaken.”
“I am Qi Lou, just arrived from out of town. I’ve never seen you people before.”
Lin Sui frowned, his face showing a moment of bewilderment.
He glanced at the child following behind Qi Lou, then, without saying another word, turned and entered the Drunken Immortal Pavilion across the street.
Qin Zheng curled his lips at the three departing figures, then also turned and walked into Tower Beyond the Tower inn.
As soon as he stepped in, the inn’s waiter warmly greeted him.
“Sir, looking for a room?”
Qin Zheng pulled out some money and placed it in the waiter’s hand, saying, “Two top-tier rooms.”
The waiter glanced at Qin Zheng and then at the child beside him with a knowing smile, chose to say nothing, and made a polite gesture.
“Upstairs, we have two adjacent vacant rooms—perfect for you both.” With that, he led them upstairs.
Following behind, Qin Zheng casually asked, “I’ve been to Nanchuan before. If I recall, Prince Lin should only be in his early forties, right? Why does he look so aged now?”
“Did he get sick?”
The waiter glanced around before replying, “Ah, you must not have heard.”
“Some years ago, Prince Lin suddenly fell ill with a strange disease. Even the best physicians couldn’t figure it out.”
“So the illness was never cured.”
“These days, the prince is obsessed with the path of immortality, hoping to live forever. And in just half a year, he’s become like that.”
The waiter shook his head as he finished.
Qin Zheng asked curiously, “What kind of illness could even stump the doctors?”
The waiter looked around again, then leaned in close and whispered in Qin Zheng’s ear, “That ‘illness’ is nonsense. Everyone says the prince brought it on himself with all the wicked things he’s done.”
Qin Zheng gave the waiter a surprised look.
Speaking of wicked things—just using poison on him alone was already monstrous enough.
The waiter opened the door to a guest room with a smile. “Sir, here’s your room!” Then he pointed to the room next to it. “And that’s the second room you asked for.”
“Would you like me to take the young master over?”
Qin Zheng glanced at Xiao Hua, then said, “No need for now. Just bring us something good to eat.”
The waiter smiled. “Right away!”
Once inside the room with Xiao Hua, Qin Zheng closed the door, crouched down to look at him, and asked with a grin, “Do you want to stay in the same room as me?”
Xiao Hua blinked and nodded.
Qin Zheng nodded back. “You said it yourself.”
“I got you your own room, and you chose not to use it—so your dad’s still paying for it!”
Triumphant, Qin Zheng grinned and went to lie down on the bed.
With demons lurking in the shadows, he needed Xiao Hua’s protection nearby.
He had a feeling they wouldn’t give up easily.
Since they couldn’t defeat Xiao Hua, who knows what tricks they might try next?
But for now, he needed rest.
Although a certain part of him had already healed completely, he was still physically exhausted.
His vitality was strong, but his stamina was still that of a regular person.
Before long, the waiter brought up a table full of food.
Qin Zheng and Xiao Hua quickly wiped it all out together, then started to rest.
Qin Zheng was simply tired. Xiao Hua, on the other hand, was just bored.
***
Qin Zheng lay in bed and quickly drifted off to sleep.
He suddenly dreamed of what his original body went through each time after he traveled through time.
It was mostly the same as before he travel through time.
But some scenes were difficult for him to face.
Apparently, he had flirted with Qin Su more than once.
And by the end of the memories… he had tried to top Qin Su but ended up being topped instead.
That beast wouldn’t stop demanding and pressed down on him—heavier and heavier.
The dream felt more and more real, and he started to feel as if someone was actually pressing down on him.
Slowly, the dream faded, and his mind grew clearer.
Qin Zheng slowly opened his eyes.
It seemed to be night now. The room was dim and shadowy.
He realized—there really was someone pressing down on him.
And it felt big. Not like Xiao Hua.
Qin Zheng looked down and saw only a blurry black head resting against his chest.
Suddenly, a sharp pain pricked his chest, followed by a warm, slippery sensation.
Qin Zheng shuddered, and his whole body snapped back to awareness.
“Qin… Qin… Qin Su!?”
“Mm.” The person on top of him merely gave a soft hum, which was enough to chill Qin Zheng from head to toe.
He hadn’t expected Qin Su to find him so quickly.
On instinct, Qin Zheng pushed at Qin Su’s shoulder.
Qin Su didn’t resist. Instead, he let himself be pushed up and off.
Qin Zheng hurriedly sat up.
Without Qin Su blocking his chest, it suddenly felt cold and exposed.
Qin Zheng quickly pulled the blanket up to cover his chest and snapped, “You… what are you doing?!”
Qin Su didn’t answer right away. Instead, Qin Zheng felt something cold against his chin.
It was Qin Su’s hand.
That hand rubbed his chin lightly, and then the shadow loomed in front of his face.
“I want you to make it up to me.”
Qin Zheng was still trying to figure out what that meant when his mouth was suddenly sealed.
There was no drug this time, and by the time Qin Su let him go, Qin Zheng was finally able to react.
He grabbed a bundle of blankets and wedged it between the two of them, warning, “Make up for what? I… I don’t owe you anything!”
But the things he had just dreamed made his voice grow smaller and smaller.
If he wasn’t mistaken, his time-traveling had left lingering effects on his past self—and all those memories had just returned to him in his sleep.
So… did that mean he had successfully seduced Qin Su?
No wonder he’d written those kinds of love letters to him—and Qin Su hadn’t even gotten angry.
But if he admitted to it now, knowing Qin Su, he’d never be able to turn the tables again.
Qin Zheng looked around nervously and repeated, “I didn’t owe you anything!”
Suddenly, the oil lamp in the room flared to life.
Qin Zheng saw Qin Su looking at him with a half-smile that wasn’t quite a smile.
Not wanting to back down, Qin Zheng glared back.
…But it didn’t take long before he gave in.
Qin Zheng flung the blanket aside, puffed out his chest, and snapped, “Then what more do you want?!”
“I already let you have me!”
Qin Su’s gaze dropped to his chest, now bared from the dramatic movement.
Qin Zheng looked down in confusion—
Only to see red marks all over his chest.
Realizing instantly what they were, he quickly tugged at his clothes to cover himself.
Still, he tried to hold his ground.
Qin Su curved his lips into a smile, and from nowhere, a thick stack of old letters appeared in his hand.
From afar, they looked full of dense handwriting.
Qin Su handed the stack to his senior brother and said, “As long as you complete everything written here, I won’t hold anything else against you.”
Qin Zheng took the papers in confusion and flipped through them—each page looked more familiar than the last.
A sense of dread crept into his chest. He turned to the first page and read carefully.
He nearly passed out.
He gritted his teeth and forced himself to flip through the entire stack.
It really was all the nonsense he’d written out of boredom the night of his tenth time-travel.
Clutching the papers, Qin Zheng growled, “I’m the top?!”
